Super Falcons and FC Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala has been ruled out of the rest of the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations due to injury.

The attacker was injured in the 2-1 loss to South Africa in Nigeria’s opening game of the tournament but has today been confirmed to be out for the rest of the competition by the medical team of the Super Falcons.

Oshoala will travel back to Spain on Thursday to continue treatment with her club.

According to an official of the Super Falcons who spoke directly from the team’s camp in Morocco, “She underwent a test on Wednesday ahead of their second game on Thursday and was confirmed to have sustained a Grade 2 Medial Collateral Ligament strain.

“She will be out for at least six weeks, which means she is out of the tournament.”

Nigeria plays Botswana on Thursday and would be hoping to secure their first points of the showpiece tournament.
