Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has reflected on her humble beginnings, revealing that she once hawked bottles of olive oil and local drinks during deliverance programmes at the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM).

The former Robo Queens and Atletico Madrid forward shared this while giving a testimony at the church’s Power Must Change Hands programme on Saturday.

Ajibade, who led Nigeria to victory at the just-concluded Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, recalled how she used to sell “olive oil, kunu, and zobo drinks” at MFM church premises before her football career took off.

“I was once one of those young girls out there hawking olive oil, kunu, and zobo drinks in most of the deliverance programmes, but today, I give glory to God,” she said.

She also expressed gratitude to her mother, who raised her and her siblings in the church.

“I want to thank my mother for bringing us up in this church. We were taught welfare, the Word and how to worship,” she said.

Ajibade emphasised that MFM remains her spiritual home and the place she turns to in difficult times.

“The church is the only place that I know,” she added.

Reflecting on the challenges of the past football season, Ajibade revealed that she had to return briefly to MFM in May for prayers and deliverance before going back to her club.

“I want to give glory to God because the journey to this point has never been easy,” she said.

“When I was in my club, this last season has been very difficult. It was a very difficult season for me.”

She continued,“During May’s ‘Power Must Change Hands’, I was here quickly for a deliverance programme and also joined the ‘Power Must Change Hands’ programme. Then I went back to my club to round up for the season.

“It was really tough, I was going through injuries. I was going through pain and so many sorts of things. But I just came here quickly because this is the only place that I know.”
