The Jos Magistrates’ Court on Friday sentenced a 32-year-old tailor, Samaila Aminu, to nine months imprisonment for assault and wilful damage.

The magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the defendant after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

The magistrate, however, gave the convict an option to pay a N20,000 fine.

The magistrate also ordered the convict to pay N40,000 to compensate the complainant.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on February 5 at the C Police Station Jos by one Sulaiman Aminu, the complainant.

The prosecutor alleged that the convict attacked a tricycle rider and broke his tricycle windscreen without provocation.
