An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, sentenced a teenage boy, Ishola Yusuf, to two years and three months in the Borstal Correctional Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun, for attempted theft.

The chief magistrate, Bola Osunsanmi,  held that the sentence would run concurrently without the option of fine.

“It will serve as a deterrent to others,” she said.

Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the offence was committed on November 28, 2022, at 20 Salumonu St., Agege, Lagos.

Mr Akeem said that the convict was arraigned on December 2, 2022, pleaded guilty, and has been in the correctional facility since then.

Mr Akeem said that the convict scaled the fence of Ben Njoku’s house with the intent to steal.

The prosecutor said that he was caught before committing the crime.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Sections 168 and 406 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
