Ten Haag drops Ronaldo ahead of Chelsea clash

Ronaldo walked away from the bench before full time as Manchester United beat Spurs 2-0 on Wednesday.

• October 20, 2022

Manchester United manager Erik Ten Haag has dropped forward Cristiano Ronaldo from the squad that will be travelling to London on Saturday to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Ronaldo walked away from the bench before full time as Manchester United beat Spurs 2-0 on Wednesday, courtesy of goals by Fred and Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese was upset at the manager’s decision not to bring him on in the match’s second half.

After the game, the United boss insisted he would “deal with” Ronaldo on Thursday, where it was confirmed he would not feature in Saturday’s trip to Stamford Bridge.

A club statement read: “Cristiano will not be part of the Manchester United squad for this Saturday’s game against Chelsea. The rest of the squad is fully focused on preparing for that fixture.”
