President Bola Tinubu has sent his condolences to the family of Ali Chiroma, who passed away.

This is contained in a statement by Mr Tinubu’s media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, on Wednesday.

Mr Chiroma was the former Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president and held various positions within the trade union hierarchy.

The president sympathised with the deceased’s family, the organised labour community, and everyone impacted by this painful loss.

Recalling the former labour leader’s endeavours at a trying time in the nation’s life, Mr Tinubu said Mr Chiroma stood up for the independence of the NLC and defended the downtrodden when it mattered most.

He said Mr Tinubu prayed to God to grant repose to the soul of the departed while assuring the elder statesman’s family of his thoughts and prayers in this moment of grief.
