The National Population Commission (NPC) on Sunday urged households in Sokoto State to sustain more cooperation to enable the success of the ongoing trial census exercise in the state.

Chiso Dattijo, the NPC national commissioner in charge of Sokoto, said the information gathered from the ongoing trial census across the state would only be used for statistical and developmental planning in the 2023 headcount across the country.

He said no fewer than 80 enumerators and nine supervisors were designated to carry out the trail enumeration exercise in the state.

He appealed to the people in the state to sustain more support for NPC.

On security, the national commissioner said the commission had taken all the necessary measures towards ensuring the safety of all its adhoc staff throughout the exercise.

On his part, Aliyu Dantanin, the chairman of the Shagari Local Government Council, appreciated NPC for the exercise.

“We at the local government level will continue to educate our people to ensure full compliance throughout the exercise,” he said.

One of the enumerators, Fahad Garba, said the assignment is going smoothly, saying, “We have the full support and understanding of the community leaders.

Other local government areas selected for the trial census in the state include Tureta, Tambuwal, Silame, Wamakko, Sokoto South, Rabah, Wurno and Gwadabawa.
