Former South Carolina Governor, Nikki Haley, has declared her intention to run for president of the United States, bringing the first in-house challenger to former President Donald Trump.

Ms Haley, who served as Mr Trump’s United Nations (UN) ambassador, officially entered the presidential race on Tuesday, a long-rumored move that will likely leave her as the sole formal Republican challenger to the former president for many weeks, if not months, as other potential 2024 opponents continue to lie low.

Announcing her bid in a video via her official Twitter handle, Haley vowed to deal decisively with foreign and domestic enemies.

“Some people look at America and see vulnerability. The socialist left sees an opportunity to rewrite history. China and Russia are on the march. They all think we can be bullied, kicked around. You should know this about me: I don’t put up with bullies. And when you kick back, it hurts them more if you’re wearing heels,” she said.

Donald Trump had in November 2022 declared his intention to win the Republican presidential nomination in 2024. However, he might not have it easy as

Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis, poses a major threat to his emergence.
