Former American President Donald Trump will be sentenced on July 11 after being convicted on all 34 counts of paying hush money and falsifying business records.

He is the first U.S. president to face such criminal charges and the first to become a felon.

A potential time in prison could not be ruled out.

A 12-member jury deliberated for two days before delivering a unanimous damning verdict.

“This was a disgrace,” Mr Trump said about the Thursday verdict. “This was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge who was corrupt. We will fight for our Constitution. This is long from over.”

Meanwhile, posting on X shortly after Mr Trump’s guilty verdict, President Joe Biden, said, “There’s only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: At the ballot box. Donate to our campaign today”

Mr Biden’s campaign team reacted to Mr Trump’s conviction on Thursday.

“In New York today, we saw that no one is above the law. Donald Trump has always mistakenly believed he would never face consequences for breaking the law for his own personal gain,” Biden-Harris campaign spokesman Michael Tyler said.

Mr Tyler added, “Today’s verdict does not change the fact that the American people face a simple reality. There is still only one way to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office: at the ballot box. Convicted felon or not, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president.”
