Three people have been killed in a helicopter crash in western Turkey during a firefighting operation to extinguish a forest fire, local media reported on Monday.

According to the report, the helicopter crashed on Saturday while the crew was trying to draw water from a dam in the western city of İzmir.

One of the four occupants was rescued and is being treated in hospital.

The bodies of the three other occupants were recovered in the dam.

Divers found a body at a depth of 12 metres in the morning, the report said.
