Twenty-five-year-old jailed for stealing N12,000 phone

Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Tuesday sentenced 25-year-old Ganiyu Abeeb to two weeks’ imprisonment for stealing a Tecno phone worth N12,000.

Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Tuesday sentenced 25-year-old Ganiyu Abeeb to two weeks’ imprisonment for stealing a Tecno phone worth N12,000.

The police charged Mr Abeeb with theft.

He pleaded guilty to the charge.

In her ruling, Magistrate A.O.Adeyemi sentenced the convict to two weeks’ imprisonment without any option of a fine.

The prosecution counsel, Insp E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the convict committed the offence on July 9, at about 8:30 p.m. in the Ilogbo area, Ota.

Mr Adaraloye said the convict stole a Tecno phone belonging to Adam Mohammed.

He added that the police tracked the phone to Mr Abeeb.
