Two children killed, others injured in Lagos-Ibadan expressway crash

A lone car crash around Isara Remo, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, killed two children and injured three others on the morning of New Year’s Day.

The lone crash involving a Toyota car with registration number TTD985AA was said to have happened at about 8:00 a.m. and was caused by excessive speed by the driver.

The spokesperson of the Ogun State Sector Command of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, confirmed the accident in a statement made in Abeokuta.

According to her, the injured victims have been taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for medical attention, while the corpses were deposited at Isara General Hospital morgue.

The statement read in part, “The crash occurred at about 0800hrs on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. A total of 05 persons were involved, which comprised three male children, one male adult, and one female adult.

“ Three persons were injured ( 01 female adult, 01 male adult and 01 male child). Two people were killed (02 male children), 01 vehicles were involved with registration number TTD985AA Toyota car.

“The suspected cause of the lone crash was excessive speed, and the vehicle suddenly lost control and ran into a ditch.”
