Two in court over alleged theft, house breaking

Two men, Yakubu Kehinde and Adelusi Tope were on Wednesday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of money and foodstuff.
Kehinde, 28, and Tope, 21, whose addresses were not given, are being charged with house breaking and stealing, to which they pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence at about 10.30a.m on March 5, in Agbado-Ekiti.
Oriyomi said that Kehinde, broke into the house of one of the complainants, Busola Adedoyin and stole N114,000, and foodstuff.
Oriyomi further said that Tope, broke into the house of another complainant, Adepoju Gabriel and stole N115,000.
He said that the offense contravened Section 322(a) and (b) and 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He prayed the court for adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
Counsel to the defendants, Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court to grant them bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each in like sum, and adjourned the case until April 9 for hearing.
