Two people, Yakubu Abel, 26, and Richard Christopher, 22, were on Tuesday docked in Ogudu Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing five solar batteries valued at N575,000.

Mr Abel, a security guard, and Mr Christopher are facing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

They, however, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate M.O. Tanimola.

Ms Tanimola granted the defendants N100,000 bail each with one surety each.

She ordered that the home and office addresses of the sureties must be verified and adjourned the case until October 25 for mention.

The prosecutor, Donjour Perezi, told the court that the defendants and some persons at large committed the offences on August 12.

He said the defendants conspired to commit the offences at Alhaji Mohammed Close, Off Adisa Balogun, Ketu, Alapere in Lagos.

Mr Perezi stated that the defendants allegedly trespassed and entered the site belonging to Airtel Network Company to steal the items worth N575,000 where they were kept.

He said the offences contravened the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
