Two suspected armed robbers nabbed in Niger

The police command in Niger State says it arrested two suspected armed robbers, Abba Umar, 28, and Zakariya Abubakar, 23, both residents of Sabon Titi area of Minna.
This was disclosed by the command’s spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement on Tuesday.
He stated that the suspects were arrested on May 9, 2026.
He said, “On the same May 9, 2026, at about 9.30am, a report received at Maitumbi Division from a hotel manager around Maitumbi indicated that two miscreants armed with dangerous weapons, broke into the hotel and robbed some guests of handsets and other valuables.”
Mr Abiodun said police operatives attached to the Maitumbi Division were immediately drafted to the scene, where the two suspects were arrested.
He added, “Abba Umar 28 years, Zakariya Abubakar 23 years both of Sabon-Titi Minna. The two suspects were arrested with cutlasses, trespassing to the hotel, threatening and robbing guests.”
The suspects would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
