With only two weeks to the general elections, Bloomberg has declared that Labour Party’s Peter Obi is still the “top choice” to emerge the nation’s president at the February 25 polls.

Findings from a recent poll conducted by Premise Data Corp for Bloomberg, said Mr Obi received the support of two-thirds of the 2,384 Nigerians polled between January 26 and February 4.

Sixty-six per cent of respondents declared their intentions to vote for Mr Obi. 18 per cent said they would vote Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ten per cent declared support for Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The results of the poll was released on Friday.

Mr Obi has gained widespread support from Nigerians, despite being derided by other parties as a “social media candidate”.

The two-term former governor of Anambra State has defeated established candidates like Messrs Tinubu and Abubakar in the two Bloomberg polls conducted so far.

Mr Obi had scored 72 per cent in an earlier poll by the news organisation in September.

A similar survey by Nigeria’s data intelligence gatherer, Stears, says the coast will only be clear for Mr Obi’s presidential victory if there was a massive turnout of voters on February 25.
