The anticipated rematch between undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and British Tyson Fury is set to hold on December 21 at Saudi Arabia.

The fight which was earlier speculated to hold in October will now happen in December,

Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s general entertainment authority, Turki Alalshikh, made the announcement.

“The rematch between the undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk and the champion Tyson Fury is now scheduled on the 21 of December 2024 during Riyadh Season,” Alalshikh tweeted on Wednesday.

He added “The world will watch another historical fight again. Our commitment to boxing fans continues. We hope you enjoy it.”

The rematch is coming seven months after Usyk defeated Fury via split decision at Riyadh to emerge World’s undisputed champion on May 18.

The encounter will offer Fury an opportunity to fight for his belt, hand Usyk his first defeat, while Usyk might further reaffirm his authority as the Undisputed Champion by beating Fury for the second time.

The May undisputed fight was officiated by the trio of Manuel Oliver Palermo of Spain, Craig Metcalfe of Canada and Mike Fitzgerald of United States.

Palermo scored the 12 rounds bout 115-112 in favour of Usyk, Metcalfe scored it 114-113 in favour of Usyk, while Fitzgerald scored it 114-113 in favour of Fury.

Usyk, 37, won the fight to become the undisputed champion 25 years after Lennox Lewis defeated Evander Holyfield to the title in 1999, extending his career record to 22 wins.

Fury lost his bet in the fight, while

Usyk, 37, now holds the World Boxing Council world champion, World Boxing Association, World Boxing Organisation, International Boxing Federation and the International Boxing Organisation (IBO) belts.
