Nigerian senior national football team Super Falcons on Thursday beat their Cameroonian counterpart to advance to the semifinals of the ongoing Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The Falcons defeated the Indomitable Lionesses by a lone goal at the Mohammed V stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.
Rashidat Ajibade scored via a stunning header in the 57th minute to hand victory to the defending champions.
The Nigerian women dominated the game from the blast of the whistle but could not break the deadlock in the first half.
Super Falcons have improved their performances in the competition since their opening match loss to Banyana Banyana of South Africa.
With Thursday’s victory, Super Falcons have secured qualification for next year’s Women World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
