English Premier League side, West Ham, ended their 43-year wait for a major trophy, defeating Italian side Fiorentina 2-1 to win Europa Conference League on Wednesday night.

The Hammers first won a European trophy in 1965 and last won a major trophy, the FA Cup, in 1980.

The competitive final in Prague saw the two teams go into the first half without goals.

Saïd Benrahma, however, broke the deadlock, firing the Hammers ahead in the 62nd minute from the penalty spot.

Five minutes later, Giacomo Bonaventura levelled for Fiorentina, cancelling out West Ham’s lead.

The final seemed to be heading into extra time until Jarrod Bowen grabbed a winner for the Hammers in the last minute of the game.

Tonight’s victory for West Ham will see the club feature in European football next year.
