World Cup Qualifier: Coach Danjuma optimistic of Falconets’ victory over Tanzania
Christopher Danjuma, the head coach of the National U-20 Women`s football team, the Falconets, has expressed confidence the team would triumph over Tanzanian in the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifier.
“The young ladies are good enough to overcome the Tanzanians in November. My girls will win their matches with determination and dedication like their predecessors did,” he said.
The first leg is scheduled for Dar es Salam on November 10 and 12, with the return leg at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, between November 17 and 19.
Danjuma told journalists on Tuesday in Abuja that the team is determined to give its best and to make the country proud.
“We are going to put a smile on the faces of Nigerians after the match. We are all in high spirits and are committed to bringing positive results to Nigeria.
“We are solid and working on our finishing touches. Starting from the various departments and collectively as a team, we are good to go,” he said.
The coach said Tanzania was not a threat to the Falconets.
“Tanzania always have a strong team; we are not scared or afraid of them; we will fight to win the first leg away and the second in Abuja.
“The team is not under any pressure. I believe that they have the ability to deliver, and we have given them what they require to succeed,“ Danjuma said.
He said the team played friendly matches with academy outfits and won all.
“We will be playing another friendly match on Wednesday with Andrew Academy football club of Abuja,“ he said.
Following the withdrawal of Mauritius from the second-round attrition with Nigeria, the 2022 World Cup quarter-finalists drew byes to face Tanzania in the third round.
