The All Progressives Congress (APC) executive members in the Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi have declared support for Kingsley Femi Fanwo’s ambition to clinch a House of Representatives seat in 2023.

Mr Fanwo is Kogi’s commissioner for information and communications.

The declaration was made on Sunday when the commissioner and his team paid a consultation visit to the APC chieftains in Mopamuro, Yagba East and Yagba West local government areas.

Mr Fanwo said the consultation was to interact with the APC stakeholders in Yagba and formally declare his intention to represent them in the federal parliament, seeking their support.

“Though in terms of human capacity development, the current lawmaker has tried his best, we will do better. When we get the APC ticket, we will defeat him by God’s grace at the general elections,” Mr Fanwo stated. “Our party must be on the path of truth and fairness so that it can be stronger and better. By the grace of God, 2023 will be different; APC will win and win massively.”

He thanked the people for their massive turnout to honour his consultation and the endorsement, pledging not to disappoint them.

The commissioner further urged the people to support the presidential ambition of Governor Yahaya Bello.

The Mopamuro LGA APC chair, Charles Omoyele, described Mr Fanwo as their leader and their own.

“Let us look for a House of Representatives member that can best represent the interest of our people, and KFF (Mr Fanwo) is the best person that can fill that vacuum,” he said.

The Mopamuro LGA chair, Sunday Moses, urged the people to rally around Mr Fanwo and support his ambition.

He reemphasised that though the incumbent lawmaker representing Yagba, Leke Abejide, tried his best, Mr Fanwo would do better.

At the APC secretariat in Odo-Ere, Yagba West LGA, the APC chairman, Samuel David, said the party executives in the local government had endorsed Mr Fanwo as their preferred candidate.

Also speaking, the Yagba East APC chair, Kehinde Atteh, noted that the Yagba people had lagged for several years.
