Dahud Sangodoyin, the Commissioner for Works and Transport in Oyo State, has appealed to drivers to drive with caution for optimum road safety during the festive season.

Mr Sangodoyin made the plea at a lecture organised for park managers by the state Vehicle Inspection Services (VIS) on the need for safe road use.

Represented by the coordinating director and director of administration and supplies of the ministry, the commissioner educated the park managers on loading, traffic signs, safety, emergencies, road lanes and accidents.

Mr Sangodoyin, who frowned at the way motorists treated the Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) while discharging their duties, said errant motorists would henceforth be dealt with.

Therefore, he appealed to road users to record zero road crashes in 2022.

Also, the State Head of Service, Amidat Agboola, advised drivers to avoid transporting contraband goods, which might lead to apprehension and prosecution by law enforcement agencies.

Ms Agboola, represented by Lanre Abass, the executive secretary, Oyo State Agency for Control of Aids (SACA), admonished commercial drivers to drive with care and follow traffic rules and regulations.

She said that this would promote accident-free roads in the state.

VIS director, James Ajayi, said that the programme would ensure safety, orderliness and accident-free ride on the roads, especially during the yuletide.
