The government of Zamfara has called on emirs to redouble their efforts in tackling security challenges in the state.

Deputy Governor Hassan Nasiha made the call during the formal presentation of appointment letters to the newly enthroned emirs of Zurmi and Dansadau in his office on Monday.

Mr Nasiha said leaders of traditional institutions, as custodians of revered societal norms and values, had a more significant role in ensuring a sustainable security atmosphere in their various Emirates.

He said that appointments were on merit for the two royal fathers, Sarkin Zamfaran Zurmi, Muhammad Bello and Sarkin Kudun Dansadau, Garba Muhammad.

Mr Nasiha said their appointments were based on positive recommendations from their respective kingmakers and reports from other concerned institutions on their good moral behaviours and track records of service to humanity.

The deputy urged them to utilise all possible strategies to address lingering security issues and promptly report any security breach to the state government for necessary action.

In their separate speeches, Messrs Bello and Muhammad thanked Governor Bello Matawalle for the opportunity to realise their dreams of becoming emirs in their domains.

They assured the government of their unalloyed support and cooperation with its policies and programmes for the rapid socio-economic development of the state.
