South Sudan: Prominent singer ridicules, blasts Machar’s critics

June – A prominent South Sudan artist has criticized and ridiculed critics of the country’s First Vice President and SPLM-IO leader Dr. Riek Machar Teny saying he offered his life for the good of the people of South Sudan.

Koang Deng Kun Koang, a Canada-based South Sudanese singer who is better known as K-Denk, said Machar made the decision to fight for a free society when he was young and as such those not willing to help in the fight for a better future should not criticize him.

“If your father has not tried what Dr. Riek Machar tried then why are you insulting him?
He was very young when he made the decision that let him to the history of independent South Sudan,” Koang said in a Facebook post.

“If you are not helping if you’re giving up on your community if you allow the enemy to continue to kill your family, then do not speak ill because you’re a coward and not changing the situation,” he added.

“But I cannot control your behavior nor do I want that burden. But I will not apologize for refusing to be disrespected or to be mistreated. I have a standard; step up or step out. The worst enemy is a member who is a traitor, a backstabber for me; I have refused to be part of those destroying us, on social media.

“I have been with the Nuer and the vulnerable South Sudanese since the war started for 7 years now and I am not going anywhere! I respect you Gatmachar. We will either succeed together or pick up from where you can’t.”
