There is indeed love between him and the girl. The policeman
remembers what he saw the other day: two people holding each other
tightly and walking toward the sunset, a loving couple. However, the
policeman has some doubts as to the Amerasian's claims that he will

return from America. He lowers his voice and speaks menacingly.

POLICEMAN B
Do you swear you will come back for
her? Who can guarantee that?

THE AMERASIAN
No one can guarantee that for me.
But I swear I will return unless I
die. I don't know if anyone
believes me. But I know she
believes me and will wait for me.
We promised each other already.

POLICEMAN B
So, you say you won't betray her.
But what happens if you die before
that? Won't she be on the losing
end when that happens even if she
loves you very much?

THE AMERASIAN
I will not die. I will come back to
her. I will come back to marry her.

The Amerasian speaks with deep conviction and with all his heart. The
policeman is moved to hear him speak and sits still without saying
anything.

60 EXT. THE TEA HILL - MORNING

Suddenly THE AMERASIAN pushes POLICEMAN B's hand away hard
so that the gun drops to the ground. B lunges forward trying to catch
the gun but the Amerasian can grab it first being closer to it.
