THE MAN
Please stop lecturing us about real
life. How many criminals, how many
corrupt officials who oppress the
people are out walking around
without anyone punishing them? We,
the lowly people, are the only ones
suffering.
Suddenly the conversation veers into a different direction. Policeman
B starts to feel hot under his collar.
POLICEMAN B
Be careful what you say. The state
never forgives the bad. There are
countless resolutions,
proclamations, and trials aimed at
eradicating the bad. All societies
are the same: next to the bad or
negative is the good or positive.
But we must be able to tell the
difference between substance and
phenomena...
THE MAN
You don't need to lecture us on
resolutions. I have heard too much
about them. The problem is what
happens in real life, in the real
society. What is the essential
nature? What is a phenomenon? All
these are just figures of speech.
Many phenomena become essential in
nature. Essential nature gives rise
to the phenomena. You won't be able
to convince anyone going that route
speaking that way.
Policeman B is surprised at the man's reaction, and he decides not to
give in.
