POLICEMAN B
Where does he work? When will he be
back?
THE AMERASIAN'S
I don't know for sure. He goes off
with his friends. Sometimes he goes
off for a few days.
POLICEMAN B
Did your son tell you anything
about the rape?
THE AMERASIAN'S MOTHER
No. My son is a good boy. He
doesn't do bad things. Please don't
speak ill of him without cause.
POLICEMAN B
You should know, madam, that rape
is a crime and an even more serious
crime when the victim is underage.
The police will never forgive, and
the law will punish the culprit
severely. However, if the culprit
repents and turns himself in, he
will receive some leniency. Our
system treats those who run away
from us much more harshly than
those who run to us. If he turns
himself in and confesses, the
sentence will be lighter. I heard
that the two of you have been
sponsored to go to America. If this
problem is not cleared up, how will
you two be able to go? If you love
your son, ask him to turn himself
in. Hiding will only harm him. Do
you agree?
