Victoria heads up the surrealist wing of our fundraising department

So it seems the blog baton has made its way back to the fundraising department!

Sadly for me, my fabulous colleagues have already eloquently blogged about the importance of our supporters and the invaluable independence Greenpeace enjoys as a result of their generosity. So I'll do my best to cobble together a few meagre anecdotes about what it is I get up to here, but I want to join in the chorus of thank yous to our wonderful supporters – we couldn't do it without you!

On my side, you could say that a role at Greenpeace might have been in the cards. As a little kid, when I was taken along to the peace marches in Vancouver in the 80s, I knew right away that I wanted to march with a sign! Although too young to read or write, I of course made my own nonsensical finger-painted sign to proudly carry. Fast forward to learning how to write, and McDonalds started receiving letters asking them to stop using Styrofoam packaging in my childish scrawl (PS: in 1990 they agreed to stop. Yay!)

Fast forward again to present day, and here I am at Greenpeace working as the fundraising information coordinator. It's a role I do on a part time basis, splitting my time with my other job at Amnesty International UK.

A typical day for me is one where, fuelled by mass doses of Dolly Mix (and most likely some kind of hyperactivity disorder), I hop around working on a variety of projects with my colleagues in the fundraising department. Some of these projects involve coordinating information that goes externally (fundraising leaflets! Letters to supporters!), and some involve coordinating information internally (how many people read the e-bulletin? Who should be on the mail-out list for Greenpeace Business?).

Fundraising information coordinator may not be a self-explanatory job title, but if you've had the chance to admire the fine fundraising folders carried by our street fundraising team, or delighted in the perfectly-aligned boxes as you filled out our print-off donation form, or enjoyed a friendly welcome call after becoming a supporter, or quickly and efficiently received your welcome email after joining Give Coal the Boot or Airplot on the street, then you've experienced the magic of fundraising information coordination.

And you may soon be seeing our new fundraising leaflets appearing at information tables and Green Speakers events around the UK, so keep those eyes peeled!
