Greenpeace track down head of WTK in top London restaurant
While Greenpeace volunteers continue to occupy the MV Enif to stop the
unloading of a cargo of criminal plywood from the Amazon rainforest today.
Greenpeace Amazon campaigners had an inpromptu lunch rendezvous with one of
the heads of the Malaysian logging company WTK today.
Mr Patrick Wong was in London meeting with his UK Amazon plywood agent for
Amaplac at the top London restaurant Aurora owned by Terance Conran.
Greenpeace International Amazon campaigner Phil Aikman and Brenda Ramsey, UK
Amazon campaigner approached Mr Wong and handed an A3 card with a photo of
the Deni banner 'WTK out of Deni land'. It wasn't too difficult to recognise him as
he was trawling through Greenpeace press releases rather than the menu!
The inside of the card said: "Greenpeace believes that your plywood business in
Amazonas State is not based on legal and sustainable sources. It also threatens
Deni Indians living in Amazonas State. Greenpeace requests that the Amaplac
plywood on board the MV Enif be returned to the Amazon and donated to local
communities in Amazonas state where it came from"
Mr Wong tried to hide behind the card whilst photos were taken or hand it back
whilst ducking his head. The campaigners left ensuring Mr Wong had urgent
business to discuss.
