Amazon under threat
We've all heard about the Amazon; we know it's bigger than Western Europe; that in 1 hectare you can find 200 types of tree & more plant species than in the whole of Europe; that a single tree may be the home for 72 kinds of ant and not forgetting we are discovering new species continually.
But did you know that also inhabiting the Amazon are 20 million people? 2,500 logging companies & sawmills? In the last 4 years an area the size of Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg combined has been destroyed?
This is why Greenpeace has a new global priority, the Amazon. We hope you can work with us to help establish the range of solutions needed to keep the Amazon alive whilst improving the quality of life for its inhabitants.
