In April 2001, the 2020 Vision collective, an alliance of local people including local Greenpeace supporters based in Norfolk, organised a series of events including a conference at the University of East Anglia about global food issues and visits to UK farms through the Norfolk based organisation, Farmers Link.
Speakers at the conference included:
Indian journalist and writer Devinder Sharma;
farmer and village seed saver Umnapur Lakshmamma from Andhra Pradesh, India;
Buduru Salome Yesudas from the Deccan Development Society, Hyderabad, India;
Michelle Chawla of Greenpeace India and
Percy Schmeiser, a Canadian farmer sued by Monsanto when his crops became contaminated with GM seed.
