'No War' protesters in Parliament Square

Greenpeace was at Westminster Square on 26th February to bear witness when Parliament voted on government motions on military action against Iraq.

Our presence helped to bring the No War message home to MPs.

On 26th February and 19th March, Labour Party MPs revolted against the Prime Minister. After lengthy debates, members of the House of Commons - including Labour MPs - backed amendments to the motions opposing the government's position.

The government motions passed through the House because of Tory support. However, a number of MPs also signed EDM (Early Day Motion) 716, which opposed the war. EDM 716 stated that UK forces should not participate in the USA's war unless certain conditions are met - including the exhaustion of all other policy options.

Thankyou to everyone who lobbied their MP and joined us at Parliament Square.
