Stanstead public inquiry gets underway - Greenpeace response

Reacting to the news of the opening of a public inquiry into plans to expand Stanstead airport, Greenpeace aviation campaigner Emily Armistead commented:

"It won’t just be the residents of Stanstead who will suffer if this development goes ahead - from Soweto to Sao Paulo, the climate is warming due to increased greenhouse gas emissions. Our government simply has to join the dots and call a halt to airport expansion - if they don’t there’s simply no way we are going to ward off catastrophic climate change."
