The United Nations Security Council, Member States, relevant regional and international inter-governmental organizations should impose targeted financial sanctions against all Tatmadaw-owned companies, especially MEHL, MEC and their subsidiaries, and do so in a manner that respects human rights and gives due consideration to any negative socio-economic impact of such sanctions on the civilian population. This should be accompanied by a comprehensive arms embargo on Myanmar, with a monitoring and enforcement mechanism.
