Authorities in Burkina Faso have confirmed that 60 civilians were killed in a village in northern Burkina Faso by men wearing military uniforms.
On Sunday, the prosecutor of the court of Ouahigouya, Lamine Kabore, told AFP the attack happened on Friday in the village of Karma near the border with Mali.
“About 60 people were killed by people wearing the uniforms of our national armed forces on Thursday in the village of Karma in northern Yatenga province,” Mr Kabore said.
“The wounded have been evacuated and are currently being taken care of within our health facilities,” he added.
He urged “all those who have information” to report to the authorities to assist with investigation on the matter.
Residents claimed that the village was attacked by over 100 men with military uniforms.
According to AFP, residents said more than 100 people on motorbikes and pickup trucks raided the village.
Residents said people were killed by the men, who were dressed in military uniforms.
Last week, 40 people were killed in an attack by suspected jihadists near the village of Aorema, about 15km from the provincial capital, Ouahigouya, and 40km from Karma.
The village of Karma shares a border with Mali and attracts illegal gold miners
