The Adamawa House of Assembly has appointed Kate Raymond (PDP-Demsa constituency) as the deputy majority leader of the legislature.

The speaker of the house, Aminu Iya-Abbas (PDP), who announced the appointment at the plenary on Monday in Yola, said the position was on merit, considering her track record as a legislator.

He charged the lawmaker to redouble her efforts and channel her energy towards enacting laws that would benefit the people, especially her constituents who mandated her to represent them.

The speaker also announced the elevation of the former deputy majority leader, Japhet Kefas (PDP-Gombi constituency), as the house leader following the defection of the former leader, Tukur Yetasure, to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Also, Hamidu Lekki (PDP-Yola North) as the new chairman of the House Committee on Finance, Appropriation and Budget, while Shuaibu Babas (PDP-Fufore constituency) was also appointed the chairman of the House Committee on Health.

The speaker explained that all the appointments took immediate effect.
