Head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro, says the team must improve on the performance of their previous match win going into the last group stage against Guinea-Bissau to finish first in Group A.

“It’s an important match tomorrow, and we want to fight for the first position. We must do our goal, our job, our obligation and want to win,” Peseiro told reporters at the pre-match press conference on Sunday.

He emphasised that despite the win against Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday, the team must not relent; instead, they should work hard to secure a win against Guinea-Bissau, who famously defeated Nigeria 1-0 during the qualifying round.

“If the team wins, we must improve our confidence,” he said. “Wins require more confidence, more hard work, and we must not relax. It is difficult to win a match in this tournament; the teams play better, and they can beat any team.”

He added, “For that, we need to show better performance. They need to demand the maximum from ourselves because if we don’t do it, any team can beat us.”
