Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has advised his lieutenant, Olayide Adelami, to be transparent and accountable.

Mr Aiyedatiwa gave the charge on Thursday in Akure, shortly after Mr Adelami was sworn in as the new deputy governor.

“This is a clear challenge for you, the new deputy governor, to handle your portfolio in a manner to sustain this euphoria because, as it is often said, it is easier getting to the top than to remain at the top.

“Therefore, I like to congratulate you and your families on your well-deserved appointment in the belief that you will serve diligently and patriotically. You must bear in mind that this administration has zero tolerance for corruption,” said the governor.

Mr Aiyedatiwa added, “We expect you to demonstrate transparent, open and accountable leadership in your new office. You must also avoid discrimination as you have the entire state as your constituency, rather than serving sectional interests.”

Mr Aiyedatiwa, however, stressed that the new deputy governor will provide fresh ideas and make a new drive to support the ongoing administration by consolidating present legacies in the state.

In his speech, Mr Adelami commended the governor for finding him worthy to serve in the present administration, pledging his support.

“Mr Governor, I hereby wholeheartedly accept to be your deputy and my loyalty to you will be total. To the good people of Ondo state, I’m here to join hands with Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa to serve you and ensure that lives are made more meaningful for you in all facets,” said Mr Adelami.
