Ailing Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo has appeared in a fresh photograph showing he’s currently recuperating at a medical facility abroad.

The governor’s wife, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, shared the photograph on Friday amid criticism about his location.

The picture showed Mr Akeredolu sitting on a motorable chair while his wife, Betty, posed beside him.

“Aketi dey kampe!. Victory for us!”, Mrs Akeredolu captioned the photograph shared on all her social media handles.

The picture came on the same day Mr Akeredolu celebrated his 67th birthday.

The governor was born on July 21, 1956.

Earlier, a 30-second video clip showed the governor conversing with the majority leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly and member representing Owo Constituency I, Hon. Oluwole Emmanuel Ogunmolasuyi, engaging fluently in local dialect.

For over two months, Mr Akeredolu has been in the news following his ill health, which has incapacitated him from performing his role as the governor.

The governor is currently on medical leave abroad after seeking an extension to attend to his health.

Last month, Mr Akeredolu, who has been battling an undisclosed ailment, transmitted power to his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to “act as governor” in his absence.

The governor was supposed to resume on July 6, as contained in a letter sent to the lawmakers of the State House of Assembly to seek medical leave, but he failed to show up and later wrote another letter to extend his medical leave “indefinitely.”
