Bandits in Kaduna kill 37 in late night attacks, destroy over 100 houses

No fewer than 37 people were killed and over one hundred houses burned by bandits in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State on December 18.

It was reported late Sunday night, around 11:00 p.m., that bandits carried out coordinated attacks in Malagum 1 and Sokwong communities of Kagoro Chiefdom in Kaura LGA.

The attacks were confirmed by Atuk Stephen, Speaker of the Kaura Local Government Legislative Council, in an interview with reporters on Monday.

Mr Atuk confirmed the killing of not less than 37 people with more than a hundred houses set ablaze by the attackers.

“All the houses in Sokwong community were set on fire, many vehicles, motorcycles and other notable properties were destroyed and the entire area left in strain,” he said.

At the time of compiling this report, the police in Kaduna are yet to confirm the attacks, with precise statistics of the casualties still unknown.
