Bayern Munich disgrace Rottach-Egern, wallop club 27-0 in pre-season match
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have thumped a local side FC Rottach-Egern, a club in the Bavarian town of Tegernsee, 27-0 in their first pre-season friendly match at the Tegernsee training camp on Tuesday.
Rottach-Egern play in the ninth tier of the German club football league pyramid.
The trio of Jamal Musiala, Mathys Tel and Marcel Sabitzer scored five goals each. Ten other players were all on the scoresheet. At halftime, Bayern Munich were already 18-0 up thanks to a hattrick by Serge Gnabry.
Alphonso Davies, Konrad Laimer, Noussair Mazraoui, Dayot Upamecano, Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala and Mathys Tel all found the back of the net during the first 45 minutes of the one-sided encounter.
Twenty-two minutes into the second half Marcel Sabitzer, who recently returned from a loan spell with Manchester United, scored five times consecutively to make it 23-0.
More goals by Raphael Guerreiro, Ryan Gravenberch, Kingsley Coman and Sadio Mane late in the game sealed the win for the Bavarians.
Both teams have played three times since 2018 and have ended in a 70-2 aggregate score in favour of Bayern Munich. The first-ever meeting between the two clubs in 2018 ended 20- 2. They played 23-0 a year later before the recent record 27-0 win.
Head coach Thomas Tuchel and his team will remain camped in Tegernsee until Thursday to complete their training camp before the Allianz FC Bayern team presentation is on July 23 at the Allianz Arena and subsequently head to Tokyo for the first part of the Audi Summer Tour.
