It was Black Christmas at Ogboro community in Yenagoa LGA, Bayelsa State, when a cow bought for celebration killed one Sobokime Igodo, a former youth leader of the community.

The deceased and a group of friends had reportedly contributed money to buy the cow, which was to be killed and shared during the festive period.

Witnesses said that the incident occurred at the victim’s premises where the celebration was to take place.

It was reported that the butchers hired to kill the cow had a difficult time keeping the animal tied for butchering.

Unaware of the commotion, the deceased was focused on a phone conversation when the cow escaped from its leash and rammed into him.

Close relatives disclosed that the impact dislocated the victim’s spinal cord, which led to him being rushed to hospital.

Sahara Reporters said the victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Yenagoa, and later referred to the University of Port Harcourt hospital, where he gave up the ghost.
