Buhari assures King of Morocco he will hand over power May 29
President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his commitment to handing over leadership to an elected president on May 29, 2023, saying that his term in office will end on that day in line with the constitution.
The president stated this when he hosted the special envoy of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, Shakib Ben Musa, at the State House, Abuja.
Mr Musa is also the Minister of National Education, Pre-School and Sports of Morocco.
According to Mr Buhari, his term of office will end with the inauguration of a new president in May 2023.
Mr Buhari, however, said he would study the message sent and respond accordingly, giving assurances at the same time that he would continue to cherish and strengthen the warm and cordial relations between the two countries.
Mr Musa, accompanied by Moha Ou Ali Tagma, the resident representative of Morocco in Nigeria, reiterated the friendship and solidarity of the monarch, the government and the people of Morocco with Nigeria.
