Gunman, police officer killed in Ebonyi

A cop and an assailant were killed on Monday when hoodlums attacked police officers at their duty post in Abakaliki, said the police command in Ebonyi.

A cop and an assailant were killed on Monday when hoodlums attacked police officers at their duty post in Abakaliki, said the police command in Ebonyi.

The incident occurred at about 9:00 p.m. at the Presco axis of Abakaliki.

The command’s spokesman Chris Anyanwu confirmed the killing on Tuesday. 

“Yes, I am aware of the attack on our men. One mobile police officer was killed and one member of the gunmen too,” he said.

A resident in the area, Chike Odoh, told reporters that the police engaged the armed hoodlums in a shootout resulting in the death of one police officer and a gunman at the scene.
