Governor Mai Mala Buni has approved an upward review of monthly standing payment of gratuities from N100 million to N200 million.

The upward review was announced in a statement by the Commissioner of Finance, Mohammed Abacha, on Thursday.

Mr Abacha said the governor approved the review of gratuity payments to capture more beneficiaries every month.

“The review will now provide room for a larger coverage of retired public officers and the next of kin of deceased workers to receive their retirement benefits,” said the commissioner.

He added, “This demonstrates the commitment of the state government to ensure that retirees are paid their benefits in good time after retirement.

“The next of kin of the deceased civil servants will also be paid the entitlements of their deceased relations to support the beneficiaries.”
