Pascale Cecile Veronique Ferrier, a Canadian-French citizen, has been sentenced to 262 months’ imprisonment for sending poison to former United States President Donald Trump while in office.

The incident occurred in September 2020, when the 55-year-old woman sent threatening letters containing homemade ricin (a toxin) to Mr Trump at the White House – she also sent the same to eight Texas State law enforcement officials.

Court documents showed Ms Ferrier made ricin, a lethal poisonous substance obtained from castor beans, at her residence in Quebec, Canada, and placed it in envelopes containing threatening letters, which she subsequently sent to Mr Trump and Texas law enforcement officials.

Earlier this year, Ms Ferrier pleaded guilty to prohibitions with respect to biological weapons in two separate criminal cases, one brought against her by the District of Columbia and the other by the Southern District of Texas, the court document shows.

However, the latter case was transferred to the District of Columbia for plea and sentencing. She was eventually sentenced to more than 21 years’ imprisonment, followed by a lifetime of supervised release upon completion of her sentence.
