China’s Communist Party set for October 16 national congress

Two thousand, two hundred and ninety-six delegates elected by 38 electoral units across China are expected to attend the 20th congress of the party.

The Communist Party of China (CPC) on Thursday unveiled an exhibition to showcase the Press Centre to be used during the party’s 20th National Congress on Sunday in Beijing.

The press centre exhibits a video link interview system connecting hotels, including video interview rooms in hotels to be used by delegates.

It also has a healthcare service delivery point in line with COVID-19 prevention and control measures, as well as security.

The exhibition would display to journalists covering the congress and China’s progress in the past decade.

Over 210 domestic and foreign media across 80 countries and regions of the world will be hosted at the press centre.

The CPC national congress is held every five years to elect the highest leading bodies of the party.

It sets national policy goals and provides a platform for the election of its central committee.

The congress also reviews the central committee’s activities over the past five years. It sets a new road map and elects new members of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

It would also reel out strategic plans by the party to build a modern socialist country and realise its centenary goals.
