An Upper Area Court, Karu, Abuja, on Thursday sentenced a 28-year old man, David Okoh, to two months imprisonment for cheating a betting house of N15,000.

The Judge, Hassan Mohammed, sentenced Mr Okoh following a guilty plea.

Mr Mohammed gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N5,000.

The judge also ordered the convict to pay N15,000 as compensation.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Olanrewaju Osho, told the court that the defendant entered the complainant’s shop and played ”BetNaija” worth N15,000  and refused to pay when the complainant asked for her money.

The matter was then reported at Maitama Police Station.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 322 of the Penal Code.
