Couple, one other arrested in Abuja for ‘one chance’ robbery

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested one Chukwudi Okorie, aged 51, and his wife, Chibuzor Okorie, aged 43, along with one Esther Gabriel, aged 38, over their alleged involvement in one chance robbery in Abuja and its environs.

Disclosing this in a statement issued on Thursday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed that the trio, who were arrested by operatives of the Utako divisional headquarters, are residents of Akaraka Gwagwa, FCT.

According to the FCT police spokesperson, the suspects confessed to the crime, adding that the command recovered from them a Mazda car, which they used in committing their crimes.

It read, “During interrogation, suspects confessed to have carried out series of one chance related activities in the FCT before their apprehension.

“A blue Mazda car with Reg No. FCT 590 EV, an operational vehicle used by the syndicate to perpetrate their heinous acts, was recovered from one of the suspects.

“While investigation is still ongoing to apprehend other accomplices, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba psc, wishes to reiterate his unflinching commitment to ensuring FCT remain a safe and peaceful place for residents to stay without fair from any quarters of the Territory.

“He equally urges the populace to keep up rendition of distress call and report suspicious activities,” it added.
