Court sacks 16 Ebonyi lawmakers for defecting to APC

The court ordered the state assembly members to stop parading themselves as the people’s representatives.

• March 8, 2022

A Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday, ordered the 16 lawmakers from Ebonyi to vacate their seats after their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.

In his judgment, Justice Inyang Ekwo ordered the state assembly members to stop parading themselves as the people’s representatives after dumping the party on which platform they were elected.

Some of the sacked lawmakers include Odefa Obasi Odefa, Victor Chukwu, Kingsley Ikoro, Joseph Ununu, Nkemka Okoro, among others.

Recall that Justice Ekwo had on January 19, fixed today for the judgment in the suit filed by the PDP against the governor and his deputy.

The court had earlier sacked the state governor, Dave Umahi and his deputy, Eric Igwe, citing same reason as defecting to the APC from the PDP.
